slow down.

here it is again. in a slower and more controlled fashion. . .

With. Some. New. Beauties.

the inspection went really well yesterday. only a few minor problems--no screens in the windows, one window won't stay open, the brand-new-gorgeous stove didn't turn on but was probably just hooked up wrong--but nothing major to worry about.

daddy, we will probably enlist you to make a little railing for the front steps. . . so put your thinking cap on.

and now i'm looking on craigslist every day for a free piano. there are tons on there.

Champaign, here we come!

We're on our way to Champaign in a matter of hours. Things to do while there:

Loads and loads of laundry.
See Jacob.
See Allyson, Sky, nieces.
See a play.
Stop by to see Eric, Matt, Chauncey, Eric.
Easter eggs?
Leave by noon on Sunday. Not 1pm, Amanda.

Also, I'm about to head out to IO to makeup a class that I missed last Sunday. I'm all pent up with creative energy and I'm really ready to let loose on the nearest person.

I interviewed today. At a place at UIC for a research project that analyzes communities and how healthy they are. Literally going around and collecting data about supermarkets, restaurants, access to parks, how many sidewalks there are, how well lit those sidewalks are at night. It sounds terribly interesting. So we'll see. Downside, the project is only funded until August with a potential to extend to November. But hey, why not. Why not I say? We'll see what happens. Keep moving forward. Enough said.

cross your fingers

. . . because our hopes are high.

for a few weeks now, we've been talking to this guy:
his name is james.

we've seen stripes.
teal tubs.
impossible lock boxes.
awesome vintage accents.
bow ties.
trees.

and a roof that probably should have been off-limits.

and. we. found. this.

a beautiful English Garden Heaven.

--the lack of photos is due to my freaking out, hyperventilation, and not being physically able to snap any--

so.
just pray for the appliances.

Free Custard?

So, tomorrow is the day I turn 26. That's great. I'm not too big on birthdays. But, we are going to grill out at a guy's place who works on the military base who used to work with PSAAP. So in an effort to make the day better, Chris and I decided to go and get some stuff to make margaritas for tomorrow. However, we discovered this quaint little place called Fast Freddy's Steakburgers. We saw it the other day, and Chris wanted some custard. So, in my strong will we walked there after buying the nessecary materials for said margaritas for the BBQ tomorrow. He got his order, number 238, a regular sized turtle sundae. And then his order came again, number 238, a regular sized turtle sundae. So I ate some of it. It was awesome. And delicious. And now my tummy hurts, but it was good, and free.

Also, I ran for two hours straight yesterday. Why? Why not. That's what I say. Today was a gorgeous day, lets hope the weather holds out for tomorrow and the grilling experience to come.

Also, OZ was weird, and kinda creepy, but fun. Everything in Wamego, Kansas is named after stuff from the Wizard of Oz movie. Toto's Tacos, Poppy Field's Winery, Scissors of Ahhhhz, and more. There were two thousand memorabilia items from the Oz movies, books, etc. Not too many original items from the movie/Frank Baum. A lot of life sized porcelain figures of characters from the movie.

wow.

this is the conversation that zoe (brendan's sister) and i had.
with brendan:

sometimes i really think i have cancer. but also i actually believe that if i got cancer, i could beat it. . . and sometimes i fantasize about how i would beat it. and one of those ways is by dancing.

how else do you fantasize that you'd beat it?

laughing.

brendan is a very special boy.

Wizard of Oz museum

So, I woke up today to go to work. And it was raining. And I didn't REALLY want to work all day in the rain...and as we drove, it turned to snow. Coincidentally, range control on the base won't allow us to drive around in said weather....so, we drove home. And then I went back to bed.

And now its 11, and its been decided that we are not working. So...about 25 miles away from here is the Wizard of Oz museum.

Details and maybe photos to come.

Off to OZ.
